Welcome Tim and congratulations. One can never have too many
Andromedas, or Andromedaaaah as Robert would say. :)
Below are some 'knobs' snippets from the A6 archives. This is all the
info I can put my hands on atm.

The knobs should just slide right off, easier than most vintage synths.
The smallest knobs may be tighter though. Just slip some string under
the knob and pull up. The PC boards underneath have plenty of support
so don't worry about cracking them while pulling on a knob.
The A6 is an easy service job once you remove the 20+ screws to open
it. If you ever struggled with servicing a Memorymoog, the A6 is a
walk in the park :)

By "take apart" you mean removing the front panel PCBs, right?
Opening the case is no big deal, though you have to be a little
careful of some thin metal tabs near each end. I have a post in the
archives with more about this. The archives may also contain some
comments about the knobs; search for something like "blue panel" or
"beta panel" or some such...or "aurora", though that will yield many
many hits. There was discussion about how difficult it would be to
affix one of the pre-release panels.

1) Handle the knobs with care. Some of the pots on the front panel can
break loose from the PC board if the knobs are bumped during rough
handling. These are the stereo pots and they are the filter cutoff
frequency and the master volume pots. If the master volume pot comes
loose from the board, your MAIN outputs are kaput and you'll have the
AUX outputs as backup but zero effects.

Subject: [A6] Switching knobs
Hi,
Someone mentioned here that it is possible to switch the softknobs with
the ones from envelope 1 (bigger).
They seem to be hard to remove.
Since I do not want to damage my A6, is there a special way? Are there
hidden screws somewhere?

I used a piece of hard plastic as a lever just to shift the bottom, they
come off easily then - no damage.
I found it really worthwhile - I changed around the env, keytrack and
fine knobs instead actually - these makes the very large knobs easier
to access

Is there some source to actually buy these knobs? I would rather put in
some new larger knobs than change around the ones I already have.....
