[A6] a6 LED and envelope questions

I've been using the A6 for about a week now.  I'm a former owner and professional user of Prophets, Oberheims, Memorymoogs, and, Jupiters, and this thing has me blown away.  I have a couple of questions.

The "Process" module has an LED.  I've read the manual and tried some of the tracking generator and engine optimizer functions but have never seen that LED lit.  Under what circumstances would it be lit?  

The envelope generators are wonderfully deep but not instantly intuitive to me.  Is there a way to control the initial level (reached after the initial attack) and have it be lower than the sustain level?  I'm trying to simulate a sforzando effect, where an initial attack and  decay is followed by a gradual swell to an even greater level.
