Maybe with modern ones, yes. But I'd have to say that an old Moog modular  
(with 901 oscillators, not 921's) is about the greatest synth sound you could  
ever hear, and it is VERY obviously so - even on a recording. The hugest sound, 
 with power and clarity. I have never, ever heard another synth (even later 
Moog  modulars) come close to that.... maybe someday... I will own something  
that does that noise!
