[A6] anyone use footswitch to control internal sequencer?

i got a latching footswitch and am trying to set it up to control the
sequencer. in mix mode, i have EXTSW set to on for all patches, and in global
mode i have FSWMOD set to SW. i am also making sure that while in mix mode the
sequence i want to latch is selected on the front panel. looked in the manual
too and it only suggests using a footswitch to move through patches. anyone use
footswitch to control the sequencers? the sustain pedal works ok but when i
release the sustain pedal it releases all of the sequences running, whereas
what i want is to only release the patch i want to release while leaving all
the rest running. is this possible?
