No I don't think your A6 is defective. I own several vintage analogue sizers and in my opinion the A6 doesn't sound as warm and fat as say a Prophet~5, OB8 or JP8. I also own a Model D and a Voyager and the A6 doesn't come near to have the same bass and oomph as those sizers. (and the Voyager doesn't come near to have the same bass and warmth then the Model D) 

 

I don't say that I don't like the A6, it is a fantastic analogue sizer with a lot of advanced features. It will keep us turning it's knobs for many years. And it beats any DCO or VA sizer out there.
