	I notice there's some wicked cross-posting going on. I hope there aren't
alot of angry people and the AH and A6 lists over this, this seems like
valid subject matter for both lists.

I've done that. Honestly, the first thing that came to my mind after doing
so was how good a job Alesis did at achieving the Moog character with the
A6's oscillators and filter. Does the Voyager sound bigger? Yes. Is it a
cosmic gulf of transgalactic infinitiy-worth of difference that most people
claim? No. It's quite a subtle difference, that all but the most anal of
people will not notice.
Now, a more valid argument would be the difference in sound between the A6
and the very characteristic and unmatchable bark peculiar to the original
MiniMoog's filter. I've only heard modular gear capable of doing that. Then
again, even other Moogs (Voyager included) can't match that bark so that's
probably a moot point.

Oh come now, you're just being silly. The MS-2000 I have directly over my
A6 verifies that quite handily.

I'm using KRK monitors and sub, I'm officially letting you know.

An A6 is not the only thing that can duplicate 90% or more of the Moog
sound. Ken MacBeth's M5 is a good recent example of that. I mean come on,
are we talking about instruments or talismans of hipster cool? Making music
or 'making the scene'?
I just don't understand the insecurity so many Moog owners seem to exhibit
when their Moogs are compared to non-Moogs. I never see that kind of a
reaction when people for example say they prefer a CS-80 to a Jupiter 8, or
Prophet 5 versus an OB-X.
My Ferrari-is-better-than-your-Lamborghini arguments are just such
exercises in futility, no one is ever going to agree. Why must people
insist on having them? If what you own works for you and you enjoy it, it's
worth every penny, but why must everyone try to convince everyone else that
their personal opinion or preference is so much more valid than anyone
else's? It's not. That's why different companies make different products
for different people. An opinion can be expressed without denigrating
someone else's opposing opinion. It's not a black and white, us vs them,
polarized situation, nor should it be.
Can't we all just get along? ;)
