[A6] A6- copying from programme to mix

Im having some difficulty copying 'any' programme into my mix. I've followed 
instructions in the manual to aT, but when i press 'copy', nothing 
happens.......I can only copy from a mix to a mix, which can be quite 
tiresome and simply not convenient. Surely I should be able to copy any 
programme to any mix??
Or do I NEED to have a ramcard??
