[A6] Instructions for changing air filter on 2004 A6 3.0

I have purchased a K&N replacement filter for 2004 A6 3.0 with CVT.  I have
replaced the factory air filter in my TT with a K&N filter before without
any difficulties.  However, air filter housing in A6 seem almost impossible
to open.  One of the clips for the housing cannot be reached by hand, and
there are so many things attached to the top of the housing.  Is there an
easy way to do this?  I would greatly appreciate any input.

 

I know that Audi cannot void the warranty for replacing the factory filter
with another OEM replacement filter.  That being said, can the dealer refuse
to install the filter for me if it comes to that?
