Another option would be to ask them very seriously about releasing the
software under the GPL, and explain that this is essentially a win-win
situation for them, since they'd get our changes for free and also be
able to sell said changes with new A6's, and that the hardware itself is
really what would protect them from a competitor using the sources.
Hand-waving and "it'll never happen" arguments aside, has anyone ever
actually managed to get Alesis to give the question serious thought?
