[A6] MIDI again (sorry)

thanks for the help so far...i think im almost on the verge of figuring this thing out...

If chris can acess MIDI without a device setup in cubase, that must mean my problem lies with how i set up my hardware, because i checked cubase sx and midi thru is active.

i also get a MIDI signal when i press my keys, because i can see the green signal bar go up and down as the signal rises and fades away....
BUT i cant hear anything.

so first ill start with the basics, my cables...
on my a6, one is connected to MIDI out, another to MIDI in, with nothing connected to MIDI thru.  that could be the problem, but i dont have a third input on my audiophile sound card so i dont know what to do.
