And whaddaya know, not one single photo of the studio...but plenty of her!
Where? Where? I dont see any pictures. Of studios or Laurie Z. (but hey Laurie will you be my friend?) As to myself and what I do with my stuff- I like to have fun. I super enjoy programming new sounds and then playing/creating on the fly. And when I'm real inspired I'll turn on Logic to record it. Being a dad and working as an engineer for Boeing I use these great tools as a creative outlet. And I'm very opinionated(like you) about what I like and what gets me off.
So stating up front that the thing I like to do most after creating a sound is to PLAY the keyboard or controller using that sound (as opposed to triggering or using it in a multi track creation) here what I like and dont like: I hate sample playback of most kinds (Wavestation is OK some times), I like FM, I like my Z1 and CX-3 more and I've come full circle back to loving analog with the a6 and soon after with the Voyager. Again because these are FUN to mess with and great sounding boards. If you have fun with the Neuron or any other tool all the power to you. I was never big on samplers although I have an E4 turbo something. Its a tool I use for drum sounds and I have sampled many of my analog keyboards sounds and manipulated them. But when I sit down to PLAY those sounds for the sake of just playing I dont get the fulfillment I get out of my other boards. And to me sampling is not fun or definely not my first choice when sitting down after work. And tweaking sample playback stuff has never been satisfying to me because I always think it sounds like someone else's sound modified. But thats just me. And if its gets you off then thats all that should matter.
No one who buys a Neuron should give a crap whether someone who doesnt have a Neuron thinks it good or not. If I bought one I think I would like the fact that everyone else thinks it sucks or isnt worth the money. Before I bought my Voyager, I thought people were nuts for spending 3K on a mono synth that would get them an A6. But then I PLAYED one and played with one and had to have one. I love reading people threads that say you can buy a Triton/Motif/2600 or whatever for the price of a Voyager. Bottom line - do what gets you the most satisfaction and dont worry about what the rest of us think. BTW I feel very lucky and appreciate you more serious folks sharing your insights that struggle to make a living with this stuff and who's needs may be far different from my own - but someone did ask what we do with this stuff.
There - I've justified my passion. As Kartman says " screw you I'm going hewm"
