The neuron to my ears seems to sound fine, if you play the model with the
original set of parameters. So to speak in true resynthesis mode. But then 
a sampler with good time/formant/pitch shifting does the trick as well. If 
you start tweaking the sticks you drift away from that nice sound into more
or less a "destructed" version of that sound. The filter is allmost never of
any use to the sound in the way I like with those classical analog filters.

I think the point about the turbocharged D50 describes quite well, the way I 
perceived the neuron sound all the times I heard one. There is easily this
"digital", "gritty", "breathy", "grainy" tone to the sound.

As others stated allready, I think as well, the neuron is a synth for some
special people, who like that sound.
