[A6] Ribbon Tracking

I upgraded my OS to 1.40.12, and the ribbon problems went away! :)  
Thanks Dave.  I tried using the Alesis Freeloader program ... what a 
piece of crap!  MIDI-OX 6.5.1 worked very well (on Windows).  I love the 
"hidden" system page where you can change system parameters and see a 
changelog!

The OS upgrade definitely cured the ribbon button not lighting up when 
the ribbon is activated, and also fixed the hold functionality (now I 
can just press the ribbon anywhere when "hold" is lit and the value 
changes).  However, as for the intermittency ... I am not sure if 
upgrading fixed that, or if it's because as part of the upgrading 
process everything is recalibrated.  Looking on page 269 of the manual, 
it says holding down soft button 5 while starting up recalibrates the 
mod wheel and ribbon controller ... try that first, Mark, and if it 
doesn't do anything, upgrade to 1.40.12.

However, I have a final question about the ribbon:

At the very left, the ribbon is not activated.  About 1 cm in, the 
ribbon light comes on.  Is this normal?

Furthermore, if I press Hold and then activate the ribbon, I can't get 
it to go to the off position on the very left.  Same thing for you?

Oh ... the hold lights come on simultaneously now, whereas I think they 
didn't before.
