duh. here's the answer to that b-b-brain buster:

the 'fricking arpeggiator was on, with no clock source.

: the 'Poly/Mono' button, swithcing it to 'Poly'. The dialogue
: indicates Poly is selected, as does the indicator

: I can still only play a single note at a time, and

: voice is used, regardless of how many keys I press
: simultaneously. [Unsyn-X is also off, fwiw.]
