It is, not in an improv way, but reducing the amount of keyboards you need.
Six mono-patch keyboards or one keyboard with the ability to do six layers?
I'll take the one. My back thanks me.

[I'm guessing there was a *big* difference (or a lot of tape) between what
some bands' songs sounded like live, and what some bands recorded in the
studio.]
