The pre-filter mixer is pretty easy to clip.  I've had good luck using this rule
of thumb: keep the sum of the mixes below 50.  I've gone back and re-tweaked mix
levels and can attest that this does make a difference.

The post-filter mixer has some mild clipping, not as harsh as the pre-filter. 
If I'm just using one filter it sounds OK whether I set it to 50 or crank it to
100, although there's little volume change between 50 and 100.  If I use two or
more filter outputs, then there is a difference.  The rule of thumb for keeping
post-filter levels below 60 applies then.
