[A6] Modulation wheel messes everything up

When I was working at Alesis, a big source of trouble was the use of
non-locking connectors. Instead of using locking connectors, they would use
non-locking connectors with a dab of hot glue to save money. Unfortunately,
the hot glue would often come apart, especially after being shipped across
the ocean, then across the country, then put in a road case, etc. I had
problems with my ribbon connector not functioning because of this. I can
imagine if the pitch wheel became unsoldered and/or shorted somewhere you
could see this kind of problems.
I took apart my A6 to fix the pitch wheel this weekend (the wheel was
rubbing against the case). It's not that tough. Just remove all of the
screws from the back and bottom except for the big ones that hold in the
keybed. Your problem will probably be obvious once it's opened up. It was
really cool to look inside again. There's some incredible engineering in
there... and some really dumb manufacturing. -jl
