hi,

i know, this has not DIRECTLY to do with the A6 but still: i want to
integrate this fabulous machine which i bought one year ago in my new
studio.

now the problem where i need advise since i am in no way an expert of
this matter (design of a recording solution).

i now run all my old and new! analog and other synths (9 in all with
multiple outs...) with an old powermac 8100 (with samplecell2) and a
vision!! (yes cavemen still are amongst you!) sequencer. i record all
this through a yamaha AW4416. this thing is great, but it is quite
difficult to route several external effects through it and it is bnot
easy to sync it with my sequencer as the mac is pretty slow etc...

so i think to be really flexible, i need another solution. i was
thinking about a new mac with a RME 9652 aquisition card and maybe
later a TC powercore and or a UAD 1 DSP card. until now, everything
sounds great (quite expensive already!!) but: i need many AD ins thus
a big or two! converters and those seem to be REALLY expensive. and
to control all these features through my only mouse doesn't seem the
ultimate solution either. so there seems to be a solution : mackie
control etc.. etc. which sets you back another 1500 euros.... plus
if i buy a new mac, i will have to shred my old OPCODE studio 5LX
(serial interface... or are there serial interface cards?...) which
is great as it is a midi patchbay in its own right...

i mean, is it impossible to somehow assemble a great virtual studio
(24 analog ins) with real time plug in treatment, mastering, midi
sequencing and the use of external effects etc. for less than 10000
euros (not counting the outboard equipment)?
can anyone help me here with his or her experiance or got a great solution?

thank you all in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! save a life!!

a desperate

oliver
