In program mode the A6 plays one program (patch) only, but
you can play up to 16 voices (audible tones) from that
patch.

Yep. See the manual, it is all explained there.

Don't know about midi control, but it surely works fine from
the synth itself. Again, read the manual.

No prob, take your time. It's a deep synth.
