I would guess that it had something to do with it, but expensive as it was, 
it probably sold OK and made some of that back, plus it HAS opened a door for 
some future use of the technology (the special ASICS chips, plus a faster 
processor, could now make a smoking little rack unit. But that's not so eays 
either.) There were other things, such as Alesis' big studio consoles and outboard 
effects, that did not go so well either. Still a good company, design-wise - 
but everyone needs BIG successes like the Midiverb, HR-16, or ADAT to really pay 
the bills.
