First, Sioux rocks again! Nice work. 8O)
Lastly, I love my JP-8000, but not enough to marry it. It is sufficient to fool my ears into thinking it is analog, but my ears are not nearly as seasoned as other A6 members.
I think it is a good VA for a novice, like myself. Much like my Red Sound Dark Star, it's simplicity (compared to the Andy) makes it a great tool for teaching myself oscillator modulation and assigning controllers is a breeze. Recording knob/slider movements with it's motion sequence feature is always a good sell for me, since I have always stayed out of the realm of computers when it comes to my programming.
I find myself not getting serious because I sit there and tweak and tweak. It is fun and it's very easy to lose myself in it.
The step-by-step manual is very easy to understand and not nearly as hieroglyphic as my other Roland manuals.
My unit seems to suffer from a ground loop problem at the moment. With the volume turned all the way down, it hums when I plug it in and hums twice as loud upon power up.
Certain features are not shared with the JP-8080 and vice versa.
It is my only other full-sized synth and I will never part with it.
