So you are looking for a multitimbral, analog sweet sounding synth
comparable to the flexibility and deepness of the A6 which is not so
heavy and bulky as the A6.

Analog:
Oberheim Matrix 6R/1000 Only 24 dB LPF, mono-bitimbral
Marion Pro Synth Only 12/24 dB LPF, using same chips as Evolver
Cheetah MS-6 Only 24 dB LPF

The used Curtis/Marion Chips tend to sound a bit harsh.

Analog discrete:
Omega 8 May fit the bill, has Moog and Oberheim Filter
not really small, discrete electronics, rich sounding,
				not smooth, no fx
Sunsyn Looks good on paper, but I played it during each
Frankfurt Musik Messe and decided for the A6
sounds allways out of tune, even after autotune,
				has software issues

Analog mixed:
Oberheim OB-Mx This one never cut it, once I played it I found it
				quite weak. Big as well.

DSP Based:
Creamware Noah This one may cut it. I like the sound of the
Creamware filters on all synths I run on my Luna II
Microwave XT With the right soundset this beast can do decent
VA sounds and sounds smooth. Have a listen to the
				Waldorf Soundcorner

Notebook plus VSTi:

Have fun deciding!

Georg.
