[A6] Andromeda Blues - I'm depressed

Hi all,

I bought my Andromeda about two months ago. Wow did I really like it. I
spent three weeks or so getting familiar with the controls. Then all my
troubles began.

I started to record some stuff and decided to use my Andromeda as my
controlling keyboard. All of a sudden I noticed that the first F on the
left didn't respond to touch sensivity. It sounds like you really hit it
hard all the time. This sucks on piano parts where you are using
dynamics in you left hand, every time you hit that F note you get a
thunk, like you slammed the key.

I decided to remove the keyboard from Midi to make sure it was the
keyboard and not MIDI. It still occurred when you play parts that are
more percussive. It's really noticeable, like you hit other notes at a
volume of 3 and the F is at volume 10. It sounds terrible when dynamics
create overtones etc. The bad note doesn't fit in with the ones that you
play normal. I also used my XP-50 as the controller, the F sounded
right. It is obvious that it is the keyboard assembly.

I sent it back to Alesis. I described the problem in detail. They called
me at work and I further explained the problem. Next thing you know I
get it back, they replaced the left contact strip. Guess what - it still
performs the same way. A very loud F note. I call them and they tell me
that they replaced the most likely part and they couldn't really hear
the problem. I had the guy on the phone and I pulled up Preset 2 087 - 2
082 and 1 091. I gently pulled down on the G note and it was nice and
soft, when I did the same for the F I get this bang. I did this for him
on the phone. It isn't rocket science. I told them how to detect the
problem. It isn't hard to do. I am so frustrated. Now they want me to
send it back! What for, if they couldn't read my instructions the first
time what will change this time? If I do I told them I want a new
keyboard.

The sad thing, I sold my XP-50 which was my controlling board and bought
the rack version to make room for my Andromeda. I am so frustrated, more
time without my studio functioning and no guaranty they will get it
right this time, or that they will send a new unit.

Sorry to be so long winded. What would you guys do if you were in my
shoes?

Don
