Oh, definitely, yes!

It makes me wonder, sometimes (and of course this must have been discussed at length, elsewhere and in much greater detail) if it wouldn't be possible to open-source this kind of thing? It's like Dave Smith says on his Evolver site: 'a hardware product becomes the ultimate dongle'. If, on the other hand, Alesis should decide to freeze OS development, why not release the source code? It's a shame if all that potential would be left unused.

Ah well, I know I know, there's all kinds of reasons not to, and programming embedded systems like these is probably highly specialized work anyway. But still... I can think of enough improvements I'd love to do in my spare time :)
