As the name says, the individual outputs are voice outputs, not sound or
channel outputs. In order to use them effectively in a mix you need to do
the following:
- use only monophonic sounds on a voice output (like bass, lead or drum
sounds)
- select a fixed voice for this sound
- enable voice out and disable main out for this sound
- make sure that voice out is disabled for all other sounds used in your mix
(these are mix parameters, so you don't have to make changes to your sounds,
just to the mix)
Your mistake might be that you thought the channel number had anything to do
with the voice outputs. It doesn't. Outputs are fixed to voices, not to
channels.
Hope that explains.
