Hello All:

I am new to the list as I just got my A6 on Monday.

It sounds awesome and is extremely fun to play, but...

It arrived with its "MIDI in" port seemingly pushed in about 3/16 of an
inch. It also had some jaggies on keys C5 and D5 which I discovered when I
was stabbed in the thumb while playing:-)
Finally there is what appears to be a dab of glue on the ribbon controller
which as I have played the instrument and run my fingers over it the threads
that make up the ribbon are beginning to pull.

I contacted the dealer and they immediately sent me a replacement.

Well...

It has arrived today (Wednesday) and the "MIDI in" port is in the same 3/16
of an inch recessed position. My dealer contacted Alesis and "apparently"
this is fairly common among the production units.

Anybody else have or seen this?

Well I have two A6s here until tomorrow when one goes back so I plugged them
both in and the first thing I realized was that the mod wheel on the
replacement A6 was not calibrated correctly so I followed the procedure in
the manual to take care of that.

Now here are two things that I find interesting as I listen to both units:

1) The original unit seems to sound slightly (subtly) brighter or crisper. I
first made the observation on User-061-AndroMoque Lead. On
User-007-ModernDayWarrior, which has the resonance way up I can also here
it. I turned the OSC levels to zero and cranked the resonance up all the way
on the 24dB filter and I still feel the original unit sounds subtly crisper.
This leads me to number two...

2) On the original unit the knobs (both dedicated and soft), for example
when adjusting OSC levels, go from 0 to 100. On the replacement unit they go
from .17 to 100!!!! Anyone seen this? This is after I rebooted with soft
button 3 to set the mod wheel calibration. I can get them to zero by using
the up/down buttons. Is this also a calibration issue?

I am listening to these guys through Mackie HR824s connected to a Mackie
1202-VLZPRO. I am using the main L and R outs on the Andromedas. I have not
messed with the Voice outs or AUX outs.

Let me know what you think. I know number one sounds crazy, but I feel like
I hear it. Could just be psychoacoustics-:)

Thanks in advance,

Matt V.
