[A6] A6 Idea - patch randomizer & editor

Just noticed this thread. Hope I can still post to this list ;)

Yes, there is a random patch generator for A6. I haven't updated it in years, for various reasons, lack of time chief among them. You could try & download, see if it works for you. URL below.

However, another reason I haven't done much work on it lies in the A6 Midi SysEx implementation. IIRC the patch dump layout was never fully documented, and this becomes apparent only when you scrutinize the SysEx doc, parameter by parameter... Andromizer works by sending Midi Edit messages, but this has the disadvantage that you can't use the generator to just tweak existing values. I've tried to work around this but have never found a satisfying solution.

Now I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, and I would be happy to assist (as far as time allows) the developer who has stepped up to the challenge of building an editor -- which I think *can* be useful, if only for programming the sequencer and other deep menu pages. But if the Midi SysEx documentation hasn't been updated since then, this may prove to be a tough job, and some serious reverse engineering may be in order.

Of course, it's been years since I looked at it, so perhaps new insights have become available. In that case, disregard all I said. ;)

Good luck,
Paul

While I might wind up getting an editor/librarian it would be much more thrilling if there was a random patch generator included. I remember when the Wavewrangler came out for the Prophet VS the patch generator was VERY cool--You could control how random all or most parameters would be as well as being able to instantly create 100 patches based on a single patch...

Yeah, I know that may seem like a bullshit way to arrive at someplace with all these knobs there to use but you wind up with a lot of interesting options... and then start with your knobs...

Anyway I think that would turn an editor/librarian into a must have...
