[A6] Latching the sequencer

Programming gurus,

I've a patch with a sequence; I'm assigning my suspedal to hold that
particular mix channel and let the sequence run on for a number of bars
after I play the note. However, once I trigger my sequence, I'm
anchored to the board, or at least the sus pedal. I was trying to
figure out a way to use a footswitch and SWITCH input instead so that I
might walk away and do a few somersaults after triggering the sequence
(I still need the sus pedal for other channels). But as far as I can
tell, the sequencer section does not have anything resembling
arpeggiator's LATCH, nor does it have any way to assign the switch to
this function.

I thought I was being clever and tried assigning CC 64 (sus pedal) to
the switch input, and enabling EXTSW in my mix channel, but no dice.
It's probably sending beautiful CC64 messages out the MIDI OUT but not
to my mix channel.

In the end I could use my off-board hardware sequencer to play the
riff, but it's an important sound and I'd like to be seen letting it
fly myself. You know? Thanks for any ideas, bright or otherwise,
Mike
