[A6] Ribbon controller to play notes

The ONLY ways that notes can be triggered on the A6 is from the keyboard or from an external MIDI Note On message (well, or the A6 sequencer, but that still must be triggered by one of these two events).  There is no way to trigger them from the ribbon controller, footswitches, or external inputs.

But I sure WISH there was a way!

The closest work-around is to set up a patch where the filter and/or amplitude envelopes "default" to "closed" (0 or -100 level, so no sound), and then allow the *envelope(s)* to be triggered/re-triggered by the level of the controller you want to use.  The catch is that you will still need to either: A) physically hold (or tape) a note down on the A6 keyboard, B) latch the sustain pedal, or C) send a MIDI Note On to the A6 first.  I have used this technique to make patches that "look" like they're being played from the ribbon controller or a control pedal, but they all rely on the sustain pedal being latched.

I've used the Moog Voyager touchpad to trigger and control notes.  Haven't done it on the A6 but no doubt it is very possible.  Check the trigger page of the EGs to figure out how to trigger them with the ribbon.
