you can go two ways about it. either something disrete-based, mono like
minimoog, or a
moog voyager, as said before, if you gotta have that moog sound for punchy
bass/lead.
or, go the oposite way : imo a sound that A6 doesn't cover, and that is very
complementary
to it, is 1st generation CEM synths - those using CEM3340 for VCOs.
i'm using two, that beside sounding very different from A6, sound different
from each other:
MKS80 Rev4 w MPG80, and OBXA. MKS is better in terms of
reliability/maintenance etc.
also it has velocity/AT , midi etc. otoh, OBXA is much fatter, angry and
with atitude, also
has dry sounding resonance. beautiful sounding 12dB filter. it has a 24dB
also, but its
nothing special. Its hardware envelopes are faster than MKS80. it's one big
macho polysynth:
it's double saw sounds are the greatest for emphasizing parts of arrangement
- they love to
play with guitars, for example.
I agree that, to an extent, that A6 covers sound of "Jupiter". by that, i
mean Jupiter 8's
silky PWM strings and stuff, i.e. the sound of discrete oscillators. OTOH,
JP6 and MKS80
Rev4 are not "Jupiters" in that sense - they have CEM VCOs that sound very
different.
much thinner and quite pure, they have this dry and ripping/cutting quality.
to simplify:
they dont do nice gooey pads/strings, but great "hard" bass, some leads,
great "house"
kinda velo-filter polysynths, percussive snyths etc. very popular in todays
techno and
similar styles..
to get a feel of how MKS80 sounds, check my demos here:

in conclusion - I don't own one, but my impression after playing and
programming one
for a while is that Prophet 5 REV3 is the most complementary polyphonic to
Andromeda.
Punchy, with fantastic filter. Very animated , sparkly sound. i think the
reviews on HC
cover it pretty well.
other things that come to mind:
SE ATC-X discrete monophonic with several vintage-style filters. Software
ENV and LFOs.
KORG MS20 semi modular discrete based monophonic. Great Filters.
PRO ONE - mono, sounds like P5 Rev3, but even punchier/faster. Totally
not-A6 territory..
