[A6] A6 sine osc

Yea sure, it's nice to be able to get that harder edge but my problems
is that, when I want to color the signal just a bit with sub osc or
other subtle effect, I get that unwanted raspiness too. It makes it very
difficult and time consuming to tweak out the right sound. Sometimes I
just give up because I can't get what I want from it. It would have been
nice if they had given just a bit more headroom before the distortion
kills the effect. I see this as a flaw no matter how you try to shine it
up. Can I live with it? Yes, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
There sure are a lot of problems with the A6 design for what they are
charging for it. In terms of value for the money, it does not rank up
there with most of my other purchases. I will still keep it, but it sure
won't displace any of my other gear.

In fact I appreciate this particular choice -- I
tend to be a fan of harder driving synths, and
much of what makes synths like the Moogs what they
are is the fact you can overdrive the mixers. This
can make the Andromeda nice and edgy [which
synthesizers are not noted for being]. ;)

Well, lower levels = sound quality for many other
devices too. :) One issue I suppose with the A6 is
that, for everything but the digital mixer, you
have to determine whether or not a signal is
distorting by ear. Regardless, you can chose to do
this if you want to. (Personally, I don't a lot
of the time.)
In terms of other synthesizers, what I've found is
that lower levels gives you a lot more "pure" of
a tone. The synth actually can take on Roland-esque
characteristics in fact by fiddling with the
settings, which is surprising for a synth that
screams "American tone". :)
