I have played on both a Prophet 5 and a Memorymoog. They were both old at the
time. I can tell you that they did not keep in tune that well :) although they were both
usable. I owned a MKS-80, which kept in tune pretty well.

OK, here is my answer.

The Andromeda keeps best in tune with background tuning and temperature tuning
on, but to me that voice is sterile. With background tuning off and temperature tuning
(as found in the tune menu), you should only notice slight drift and variation. This
after auto-tuning of course.

If you have not owned an analog synthesizer before, FYI (I don't know if you are a
newbie or not), you may not be aware that -- unlike any other new synthesizer
produced except some exotics, the Andromeda requires a tune-up routine. Hit the
"auto tune" button twice to activate the auto tuning routine. Without auto-tuning, the
synth can *really* be off sounding. If you are not used to this fact, no worries.

If you *have* auto-tuned, and the voices are still way out of whack, you may need to
perform a hard reset. That's turning the synthesizer on while holding soft button 3. All
user programs will be wiped to, so *back up your data.* However, tuning tables are
wiped as well and this may help.

Failing this? You have a synthesizer that needs repair. No question about it -- all you
should hear is some slight frift during normal operation.
