I think it only really does an *okay* job for a VA
of *analog emulation*.
As its own synth, it stands up better. It's
actually quite a nice sound, which is what counts.
Only the Virus I've found better, sound wise,
personally, of the VAs. (I don't like Nords.)
I'm personally glad I didn't get the Ion version.
The Ion/Micron sound isn't nice enough for me *not*
to want to really spend a lot of time programming
it. But that's me.
The Micron size makes it a good "sketch pad"
synth however, and it's got a few fun features
like the seq and the vocoder. It's probably closer
to the "modern" techno sound if that's what you
are looking for, too -- the A6 screams retro and
1980s sometimes. (But I like that, dammit.)
I use the A6 so much more though.
But everyone's ears and needs are different.
For those interested, the following is a test song
I put together to try out the capabilities of FL
Studio 5. It uses both A6 and Micron sounds, plus
some Revalver geetar. I think it's pretty easy
to tell which is which, but if you can't tell, the
A6 is the bassline plus the polysaw pad; the Micron
is the vocoder, end lead, and LFO pad. All are of
course processed to hell with plugins (because I
wanted to test some of those too :) ). And yeah,
there are mistakes and the mastering sucks, but I
didn't exactly spend a lot of time on this. :)
Style is I guess "dance-punk", for lack of a
better buzzword.
