Chris,

I do hear questionable stuff on key release in the
lowest octaves. And when I switch to 'slow' filter
setting it's gone - but then the sound is markedly
different anyway.

Have a listen to this:

and tell me if it is what you're talking about.
The same riff is played twice: first with engine
'fast' setting, then with 'slow' setting. (Note: it's
a large .wav file to avoid compression artifacts.)
