I don't know the MPC4000, but I have a Fat Controller
which I sometimes interface with both Logic and A6.
Logic provides MIDI clock which the FC picks up to run
its sequence off.
For interfacing with A6 you have 2 possibilities:
1. Direct CV input for OSC and filter; you need to
switch on the OSC and/or FILTER button in the EXTERNAL
INPUT section. If you run the FC in parallel mode you
have two independent 8-step voltage sequences which
you can use to control both osc and filter; in serial
mode there is one 16-step sequence. Limitation here is
that there is no gate input on the A6, as far as I
have been able to determine. (If I'm wrong, please
please correct me here...) Note also that as soon as
you switch off the external inputs, CV of the
oscillators is buggered: you need to reselect the
patch or switch back to external inputs again.
2. MIDI: in parallel mode 8 sliders are used to
determine note number, the other 8 are for velocity;
in serial mode 16 notes can be sent at constant
velocity; from the FC's MIDI-OUT over a freely
assignable MIDI channel to A6 MIDI-IN.
The FC is a really cool little hands-on slider box;
operation couldn't be simpler for something with its
capabilities. I recommend downloading the user guide
from the Frostwave site. No worries: it's only 10
pages long, quite the opposite from the A6 tome...)
