Yeah, it can. I think in many of the factory patches the effect is subtle vibrato, but I've
made some wild patches using the extensive routing available. Basically any "mod"
button can accept the mod wheel as an input.
For instance, I sometimes use the mod wheel for effects. For instance, I have
created a patch which is a standard pitch-oscillated sine wave with digital delay - a
standard "sci fi" type patch. I programmed the mod wheel to increase the LFO speed
on this patch. The ribbon control was programmed to the pitch, giving me lots of
interesting controls.
Programming the mod wheel to filter effects is also a common effect I see on
patches.
