[A6] Since we're comparing apples and oranges...

Mm, well, I have no idea if the patches in my unit are factory or
not. The one in question is called LIMUIDZ. It's a triangle on
OSC1, and a detuned pos saw and pulse combo on OSC2. Both oscs are
modulated with slow LFOs at different speeds (1st ampl. is ramped).
I've got about an hour into it on the A6 and I'm still not even close
to replicating it. Liquidy is my best stab at describing it. When I
parallel my M6R and M1000 and pan hard left and right with this one,
I want to fall over with ecstasy. No reverb, nothing. You know.

My other fave (not 'liquidy') is a horn patch called MELOHORN, it's
just a couple of detuned saws, and I've actually come pretty close to
that on the A6, by listening carefully and studying the sounddiver
screen for that patch. No matter how much I tweak though, my A6
patch still lacks the clarity of the original. But it is a
reasonable facsimile.

I just learned an important lesson: the 12db filter is not the A6
filter to use when trying to emulate M6R patches, duh. Just because
we refer to the first filter as the 'Oberheim' filter doesn't make it
the right one for the job. M6r/1000 has a 4-pole 24dB.

OT, but an interesting story perhaps: at rehearsal this morning, I
hauled my DX7IID out (I've had this keyboard for about 9 months), and
heard a weird tinkling sound of something falling out of the soft
case's pocket. Many tinkles. In fact, several dozen .22 CALIBRE
HOLLOW POINT BULLETS. To say that my bandmates and I were slightly
flabbergasted at this development would be an understatement.
Apparently, a previous owner thought it fitting to stow loose ammo in
with their DX.

Because when you're out in the bush tracking deer, you never know
when a new riff is going to come to you. Better safe than sorry,
better pack the DX. And some rounds for good measure.

Anything unusual fall out of anyone's case lately? Do I win something?
