Indeed. The Alesis Andromeda was released in
January 2000, I got my Andromeda sometime
shortly after then. :) (Hey, it's been almost
5 years. Wow.)
The "novelty" factor of this synthesizer has
worn off. So you get less volume because a lot
has already been said. :)
It's a pity older archives don't exist as much
these days. Much of the hints that I knew at the
time, as well as the posts that were going on, I
compiled into the Tips and Tricks document (you can
find a version here:
http://home.planet.nl/~robnet/a6/A6TipsAndTricks.html).
I think someone's editing more hints into it now,
which will help.
The main difference between then and now, aside
from A6 familiarity, is I play out live quite a bit
now with the A6 these days. For me, well, I can
appreciate more IMHO why analog synths are so well
loved, since you hear more of that analog
organicness on a good PA. [When the idiotic sound
guy actually turns up the keyboard so you can hear
it, that is. But that's another rant for another
day.] I just got a Micron a few weeks ago, and it's
a good synth so far. But it's not quite the same
sound. Seems more useful when I *don't* need space
filled and want something bleepy, if you know what I
mean.
If you need help on creating a sound or any other
information, just ask. I'm sure someone will pipe
up, I'm not the only long-standing A6 owner on here.
:)
I could post some Sysex patches and sounds, if
people want. With the code404 archives down as far
as I know, it may be a "useful post" especially for
those new to the synth. However I've done a lot of
patch posting in the past, so I've sort of kept
quiet on that end. :)
