In response to the person who wanted to compare A6 and Minimoog, JP-8 blah....envelopes: I was trying to emulate a sound I have on a software synthesizer which was very nice but still lacked this analog warmth and liquid modulation. So, roll up sleeves and started to experiment on the A6. After about an hour I reached a point where what I was patching sounded NEARLY the same, quality-wise and envelope-wise. And it was that particular point that I thought it would be a nice idea to just copy the envelope settings from the software. Well, I did and it didn't sound the same. My ears got me closer in the first place. Besides the harmonic content and what we perceive as the body of the sound is greatly dependent on envelopes and a lot of parameteres are inter-related.

I try to emulate other sounds I have on other synthesizers mainly because they are not "complete". Sometimes, there's a quality missing and you know you can do it on another synth but when you start tweaking it ends up a different story.

As a matter of fact I am bit tired of the word "emulation". I prefer the word "creation". It all boils down to our beloved "virtual digitals" being unable to make a proper digital sound, if you know what I mean....shhhshhs...pisses me off sometimes. (I am still going to get that sound though).

Have a nice day

Yannis
