about the aux part i really don't know what went wrong inside, vagually
remeber the guy saying something of resetvca's?? but don't ask me, i
just discribe what happened and guess its fair to let people be careful
with that tip.
on the part of the" micotonal" detuning subject: my jp8 just tunes, yes
you have to retune it from time to time but at least it tunes. you can
hear it and you can measure it.
the a6 however never seems to come to rest( microtonal differences), if
you know what i mean.
please try patch:000default.syx
that i put on :
http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4200&sid=8a0daa305e2dc5a8c57af98ac67edee8
and please let me know if you can get the oscillators perfectly tuned or
if the socalled microtonal drifting keeps occuring , no matter how often
you press tune.
( * in this respect i predict we might find it's more a question of
What frequency of drifting is acceptable )
i found on three different boards now that the microtonal (sounds so
small) thing excisted and that it degree was different for different
voices and only affected by swapping the chips.
on the jp8 or any most other , good quality synth's you can at least
retune the osc manually until they do fit perfectly (or at least with a
drifting frequency less then once , let's say, every 5 seconds), not on
the a6 !!
and be honest , just once take a good tuner, warm your instrument up,
leave background tuning on or off, don't matter in this respect (infact
i mostly only leave temptuning on ) and Measure !
this is not to say the A6 isn't a good instrument for it's value, it's
the best we can get , at least for me it is, and if i were to take one
synth to an lonely island the A6 would certainly have taken the jupiters
place.
but no it's not perfect, not the plastic caps, neither the autotune and
, i'm sorry to say , to my opinion also the selectioncriteriea of the
chips could have been stricter.
regarding this and my experience descibed above, i think it's wise to
test the performance of your synth very well in warranty. maybe the
patches placed might help some people with that as the A6 is a
complicated synth and it might take some time before a novice will find
it's own way around it sufficiently.
part of this discussion could have been avoided if alesis/numark would
have given some information in their manual or on request about the
technicalspecifications/ performance on their synth ( like on most other
proaudio products). we would all have known what would have to be
understood by "microtonal".
i still feel that a present range of +/- 3cents (Immediatly after
autotuning) ,with modern technology could and should have been fixed!
regarding the prices of chips a manual calibrationfunction in this
respect might have been the cheapest way out.
