(at last some replies)
first ; i bought mine , new , also in march 2003
it has the newest os,
other tested A6 +the new board exactly show the same "tolerance"
and about the aux-tip: i surely was very careful when trying that tip,
all precautions as mentioned were taken and you can believe me on that
,after 24 years of working with electronic music and studio , i wouldn't
make that mistake.
what exactly was damaged inside i'm not sure , fact was the boards were
changed.
honestly believe it or not the A6 is a compromise between price/
possibilities and also quality. you can check the patches i made on
electromusic.com and compare it with b.e. a strobetuner or another synth
like the jupiter 8
i'm sure you'll find the same results.
if it's bothering you is another question , for fat minimoogtype sounds
most probably not. but state of the art is another side of the spectrum.
about the more sensitive sides of the A6 : sometimes lets not refall
into the os-version/ softreset/tuningprocedures or you must have a
monday morning model. take a default patch or one of the patches i put
on that side, press autotune and listen to the beat. i'm sure my jp8
tunes better (as does my multimoog/system 100+m, korgdv800,no not the mini)!
maybe when people test their A6 properly before the warranty get done, a
new os version might be more within reach then with writing letters
(which was a nice initiative by the way).
