I detest Yahoo groups, they are NOT a good alternative.  The plusses offered by them do not make up compromising email to spam.

Yahoo group subscriptions will direct spam to your email address.  I refuse to give them my real email address, and the dummy accounts I gave Yahoo have indeed been spammed.  Even though Yahoo tells you in their policy that they do not distribute email addresses, they are lying through their teeth.  They force you to open a Yahoo email account just to subscribe to a group, but I never use it.

And those ads on the boards are too intrusive.

Keep Yahoo out of it.
