I use Rane SM82 line mixers for my gear.  My synths are line level so I 
don't need preamps to boost the signal.  No preamp or EQ means reduced 
noise, and the SM82s are very transparent.  I've heard consoles that 
sounded muddier than the SM82s.  Plus you can chain SM82s together 
without using up channel inputs.
