[A6] Multi mode workflow

I understand this will probably sound pretty convoluted, but here goes.

I usually use multi mode with the TXMODE set to midi but I would prefer to 
be able to switch mix mode channels from the keyboard itself rather than my 
sequencer.  This way I could conceivabley set up a multi of all my favorite, 
say, bass patches, and audition them one by one by selecting each mix 
channel without having to change midi channels on the respective track in my 
midi sequencer.

In the A6 I have the TXMODE set to LOCMID, which allows me to play the 
keyboard without record-enabling a midi channel in my sequencer.

Trouble is when I change mix channels on the keyboard, I have to turn off  
KBD ENABLE  for the mix channel I'm switching from, and turn it on for the 
channel I'm switching to.  This is quite a pain in the butt when I'm just 
trying to quickly audition patches.

Anyone have any suggestions for  achieving the workflow I'm looking for?
