Legato (as per a typical synth) won't trigger a new envelope if you are
playing *any* note. Now, I'm fuzzy on this myself right now (it's been a
long day), but analog, I *believe* acts just like a normal envelope, except
that instead of the sound retriggering from 0 on a note, it will start at
whatever the voice was previously at on the ramp cycle. (Right?) 

I usually try to use analog if I want smoother pads that fade into each
other; I use normal for your typical synth where I want that cut.
