[A6] Memory card problem

Hi All,
Sioux here. I just got my A6 a couple of months ago and LOVE it to death!
I'm sorry to say "hello" and immediately post a problem but I'm having one
and I don't think Alesis tech support can help. If anyone here has any
suggestions I surely would appreciate it.
I just bought two 512k memory cards. I put the card in and follow the
directions in the manual for initializing the card:
1) Hit store.
2) Press soft button 6.
3) Turn soft knob 1 to "Hit Store to Init Ram Card."
4) Press Store.
At this point in the manual, it says to follow the prompts for whether you
want the card to store Programs, Mixes or Both. What I see at the top of the
screen is "512k card." Underneath that I see a darkened strip that says, "
SB1=Prog, SB2=Mixes, SB3=Prog+Mix." In the manual it says to follow the
prompts. It seems like it wants me to choose one of those but I don't see an
SB3 anywhere to choose. Is there something I'm supposed to do here?
The store light is flashing at this point. If I hit it, it says, "card error
or the card is not initialized." If I press store again, the light stops
flashing and it appears that the card is initialized. When I choose soft
button 6 now it shows the "512k card" at the top and underneath it says "0
Banks and 0 Mixes." So it seems like the card is initialized and available.
Next I try to store a Program User patch to the card. I've followed the
instructions and everything works up to the destination bank. The card does
not show up.
If I cut off the A6 and then restart it, I get an error message saying "card
error or that the card is not initialized" and to "hit store to initialize"
it. I hit store and everything seems normal until I try to save a patch and
the card is not available as the destination bank.
Sorry to be so long winded. I wanted to be as clear as possible in hopes
someone would know the answer. My guess is either that I'm missing something
in the prompt to choose what I want to store on the card, or something is
wrong with that part of the synth. I have 2 cards and I have the same
problem with both.
Thanks a million for any help!
I'm looking forward to being here and meeting you all.
Cheers,
Sioux
