Yeah, I know how it works. I was talking about the sounds it makes, not
how it makes them. I tried to stress that point actually.

I already understood the synthesis concept behind it. The point I was
making was, when you make a new synth that uses new methods, you'd imagine
when they show the synth at trade shows they'd be sure to make some patches
that sound impressive, so that anyone who hears it will know that it makes
sounds nothing else can make. So, if Axel and crew have made patches that
exploit the Neuron's sound making potential to the fullest of it's
abilities, I think he may have made a turkey, as the sounds of it I've so
far heard just sound like typical late 80's digital synth sounds. Again,
nothing wrong with those types of sounds (used in context I like them quite
a bit myself), but can't other things do them more easily and less
expensively?
Now, I don't want to pass any premature judgement. It just seems to me
that right now there is one of two possibilities for the Neuron: either
everyone at Hartmann who made patches for the Neuron's public exhibitions
thus far have tragically under-programmed it, or it's an over-engineered
over-hyped piece of synth-emperor's new clothes. Now, I know which of these
scenarios I hope is true, but I also know which of these scenarios is more
likely.
So, I very much look forward to hearing what you can do with the
Neuron once you get the model maker software, but based on Hartmann's own
programming results I haven't much faith it can do things that can't
already be done.
