Is the boot ROM missing, or does it just not power up? The way to 
update the boot ROM is to download it from the Alesis website. Power 
the unit on holding soft button 7 and select boot load, I think. Search 
the archives on how to do this. You can also try a soft reset (hold SB 
4 on power up) or hard reset (SB 3 on power up). If none of these 
works, then you'll need to take it to a service center for an update.
