[A6] sub OSC revisited

Hello, has anyone ever looked into a possible non-ASIC fix
for the sub oscillator problem?
Last I heard, the original Alesis folks thought the only way
to address it was with an ASIC change.
If you don't know what I'm talking about do this:
create a simple single oscillator sawtooth patch, wide open VCF,
simple gate envelope. Listen to it and as you sustain the note,
turn up the sub OSC 1 volume control.
Do the same thing on any other synth with a sub oscillator (SH-101, etc)
and notice the difference.
(BTW - this 'feature' can be exploited for other things, especially if
you use the mod routings and assign a LFO to he sub OSC and main OSC
volumes with sign-reversed amounts of modulation - ie +50 and -50).
