don't need to reboot to do any extra tuning. Jeff.
Well, there's *something* that happens during a hard reset (which is
soft button three), or if you boot up with Soft Button 4 or Soft Button
5. See page 269 of the 1.40 manual.
It says soft button 4 "initializes all global parameters, including
tuning tables", and it says soft button 5 "re-calibrates mod wheel and
ribbon controller". IIRC, soft button 3 not only restores the default
programs, it also includes the functions of buttons 4 and 5.
Also, Dave, are you running OS 1.40.12? Is temperature tuning on? Is
background tuning on? (I asked the last two before but no response).
Unless you really care about the programs in the user bank (in which
case you should back them up anyway), a hard reset isn't going to do any
harm. Maybe what's wrong is not the tuning process itself, but some
global parameter that got screwed that affects the tuning process (which
works with Jeff's statement above).
Let us know if you still have all these problems with OS 1.40.12,
temperature tuning on, background tuning on, and after a hard reset
(hold soft button 3 at power up), or soft button 4 and then 5 at power
up (two resets). Hold down soft button 7 at power up to see your
current OS. I was having problems with a "broken" ribbon controller
(you probably saw that on the list), and an OS upgrade and hard reset
fixed everything.
Cheers,
Chris
